The Types of Cases We Handle
Injury and Wrongful Death
We represent clients and families in almost every type of injury that can occur, including (but not limited to):
- Car crashes and vehicle accidents
- Accidents and crashes involving semis and “big rigs”
- Motorcycle Accidents
- Bike Accidents
- Pedestrian Accidents
- Slips and Falls
- Dog Bites and Other Animal Attacks
- Work Injuries
- Injuries from Defective Products
- Sexual Assault
- Wrongful Death
If you have been injured, or if a family member has died, as the result of the wrongful, negligent, or intentionally reckless actions of another, we invite you to contact us.
Our Fees – We accept injury and wrongful death cases on a contingency fee basis, meaning that there are no fees unless compensation is recovered. We additionally advance litigation costs; these expenses are normally repaid to the firm from compensation received from a settlement or jury award. We believe that your focus should be on healing, not on worrying about how you are going to pay litigation costs (especially if you are unable to work).
Social Security Disability
If you’ve become disabled and cannot work, we can help you file for the social security disability income (“SSDI”) benefits from the Social Security Administration (the “SSA”). We can also represent you in the appeals process if your claim was rejected.
When we learn about your case, we can explain what is needed to qualify for SSDI benefits. If you do not meet the work eligibility requirements but nonetheless meet certain asset requirements, you may be eligible to receive what is known as Supplemental Security Income (“SSI”) benefits.
Our Fees – Federal law dictates the maximum amount that attorneys can charge in Social Security Disability (“SSD”) cases. Normally, this amount is capped at 25% of the back pay amount or $6,000 (whichever is less).[1] We do not receive any fee for social disability payments that do not become due until after the initial award. As a result, if we are retained at the outset of a case, in most cases our fee will be significantly less than if we are retained at a later date as the “back pay” amount will be much less.
Important Reading – Why it is Important to Hire a Social Security Disability Lawyer at the Outset of Your Claim
Whistleblowing – Qui Tam Cases Under the False Claims Act
False Claims Act cases (sometimes also referred to as “qui tam” cases) have existed since the Civil War. The purpose of these cases is to incentivize people to report fraud against the federal government through initiating “whistleblower” cases by which the federal government can recover money that it lost due to the fraud.
While the procedure of bringing a False Claims act case is somewhat complex, the bottom line is that those who initiate a False Claims Act case are generally entitled to a significant percentage of the amount recovered by the government. Because government fraud cases often involve a pattern of fraud that may have existed over many years and which may involve millions of dollars, in many cases the person bringing the suit (who is called the “relator”) may receive hundreds of thousands of dollars or more in compensation.
Our Fees – Similar to injury cases, we accept False Claims Act cases on a contingency fee basis, and we also advance all costs of litigation. As a result, you will not need to come out of pocket for any expenses while your case is ongoing, litigation costs and expenses are normally repaid from the compensation obtained for initiating a case.
