I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and my law degree from Duke University, where I graduated in the top ten percent of my class. That education trained me to analyze cases thoroughly, anticipate problems, and build strong legal arguments — skills that are critical when you’re facing insurance companies, employers, or government agencies that are trying to limit what they pay you.

Before returning to this area, I practiced with large litigation firms in Dallas, Texas, and Washington, D.C. That experience exposed me to complex, high-stakes cases and aggressive defense tactics. As a result, I know how insurers and defense lawyers think, and I use that knowledge to protect you and strengthen your case from the very beginning.

For you, that means having a lawyer who is prepared to take your case as far as it needs to go. I have extensive trial experience, including presenting cases to juries and arguing appeals in Virginia, Tennessee, and federal courts. I have also argued cases before the United States Supreme Court. P. Heith Reynolds, also known as Heith, is originally from Wise County, Virginia, and has deep roots in the Appalachian region. He attended J.J. Kelly High School before graduating summa cum laude from Clinch Valley College of the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Darden Society and played on the men’s basketball team. He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. With over 28 years of legal experience, Heith has primarily focused on workers’ compensation, social security disability, black lung/rock dust, and personal injury law. He has handled thousands of cases in these areas, driven by a personal connection to the coal mining community.

In 2026, Heith was recognized by the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) as one of the nation’s top injured workers’ attorneys, a distinction reflecting his sustained commitment to advocating for injured workers and coal miners throughout the region.

Heith’s passion for representing coal miners stems from his upbringing in the coal fields. Both of his grandfathers, whom he considers his heroes, were coal miners who suffered from black lung disease, with one passing away from its complications. Heith honors their legacy by treating every miner he represents with the same care and respect he would have shown his grandfathers. In addition to his legal practice, Heith has presented at various seminars and guest lectured in law school classes. He remains proud of his Appalachian heritage, with one of his fondest memories being riding in a coal truck with his father, who was working to pay for his education. This experience left a lasting impression on Heith, and he carries that pride in his work and his life.

Outside of his legal work, Heith is also active in his church, participating in initiatives to combat addiction, support re-entry, and address homelessness. He enjoys spending time with his wife and family, being with his dogs, and time spent on the water.

Mingkwan Emme Collins was raised in Thailand and Southern California. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, as well as a Master of Education from East Tennessee State University. In 2010, she was admitted to the Virginia State Bar after successfully completing the Virginia Law Reader Program.

Since then, Mingkwan has practiced law in Southwest Virginia, a region she proudly calls home. Her practice focuses on workers’ compensation and occupational disease, including pneumoconiosis (commonly known as black lung). She has dedicated her career to advocating for injured workers and disabled claimants.

Mingkwan has established a strong record of success in evidentiary hearings and settlement mediation. A number of her cases have been published by the Court of Appeals of Virginia and the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Southwest Virginia Workers’ Compensation Bar and is actively involved in the Virginia Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court, where she currently serves on the Executive Committee and previously on the mentorship program. Additionally, she is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and serves on its Board of Governors.

Since 2016, Mingkwan has also served as a hearing officer appointed by the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Complementing her legal career, she has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2002, bringing a valuable and compassionate perspective to her work with clients.

Mingkwan is fluent in both English and Thai. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, writing, and advocating for human rights.

I graduated from the Appalachian School of Law, where I was named valedictorian, and began my career as a law clerk at the Virginia Court of Appeals. That experience gave me a close understanding of how appellate judges analyze cases and evaluate evidence, insight I now use to build stronger claims for my clients at the trial level.

In private practice, I concentrate on serious personal injury litigation, including automobile accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, and workplace injuries. I am a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a recognition reserved for attorneys who have secured million-dollar verdicts or settlements on behalf of their clients.
